On Saturday, May 19th, resident and Boy Scout Shawn Guagenti was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout in Boy Scout Troop 4158. Eagle Scout is the highest achievement or rank attainable in the Boy Scouting program of the Boy Scouts of America. Only four percent of Boy Scouts are granted this rank after a lengthy review process.
"Shawn's accomplishment really shows how hard work and dedication can truly pay off," said Trustee Bobby Thomas. "He will make an excellent Eagle Scout and has a bright future ahead of him. Residents like Shawn make River Grove a better place."
Eagle Scouts must earn at least 21 merit badges and must demonstrate Scout Spirit, an ideal attitude based upon the Scout Oath and Law, service and leadership. This includes an extensive service project that the Scout must plan, organize, lead and manage.
