The students in our Youth Government program have organized a Coat Drive to collect warm winter gear that will be made available to residents in need at the River Grove Food Pantry. Led by Youth Government Mayor Sebastiane San Jose, these students have worked hard to collect dozens of winter coats, hats and gloves to protect their neighbors from the bone chilling temperatures that Old Man Winter is bringing to River Grove this season.
"We are extremely proud of our Youth Government students and the magnitude of the coat drive they put into action," said River Grove Recreation Director Laura Jardine. "This is one of our favorite programs of the Recreation Department. These students have gone above and beyond their everyday schoolwork to make a difference in our Village."
These coats, hats and gloves will be available to any resident who may be in need of these items. They will be available during regular Food Pantry hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00am to 11:30am. The Food Pantry is located at 2607 N. Thatcher Avenue in the Elmer Wolf Community Center. Guests of the Food Pantry may be asked to show proof of residency.
