Established in 1888, River Grove is Leyden Township's oldest municipality and is fortunate enough to be surrounded by a beautiful forest preserve. We have three fantastic grade schools, two public, River Grove and Rhodes, and one private, St. Cyprian. In their pre-college years, our kids have the choice of attending Leyden High School, an award-winning district with a national reputation for innovation and educational technology, or Guerin Prep, a private high school with a 100% college acceptance rate that offers a challenging, nurturing environment. Higher education is convenient and affordable for all residents as River Grove is home to Triton College, a public two-year community college that offers nursing, hospitality, business programs, sports, clubs, activities and much, much more. Visiting the Cernan Space Center is a must when you stop by their campus.
River Grove’s housing stock is in high demand with our big city access and small town feel. We offer a wide variety of single family homes, condo units and rental options. Downtown commuters enjoy an easy 25 minute commute to downtown Chicago via Metra rail, while other destinations are easily accessible by bus or bike. You cannot get a better location with access to both 90 and 290 expressways. Our tree lined streets have been recognized by Tree City USA since 1995 and provide not only beautiful colors in the fall but also cool shade in the warm summer months.
