At the September 20th, 2018, Village Board meeting, village trustees unanimously approved an Intergovernmental Agreement with Cook County that will schedule Fullerton Avenue from Maple Street to 1st Avenue for reconstruction.
The agreement is the result of Cook County's Connecting Cook County and Invest In Cook programs which give local governments the opportunity to apply for more than $8.5 million in transportation funds to help cover the costs of planning and feasibility studies, engineering and construction of improvements that implement and advance the priorities of the Connecting Cook County initiative. Back in July, 2018, Cook County informed Mayor Dave Guerin that through the dedicated efforts of 9th District Cook County Commissioner Peter Silvestri, an award of $265,000 from Cook County will be made available to help offset the cost of the $1,065,000 project, not only providing relief to River Grove taxpayers but also helping to modernize River Grove's existing transportation infrastructure.
"I'm very thankful for Commissioner Silvestri's hard work is assisting River Grove with funding through the Invest in Cook County program," said Mayor Guerin.
Scheduled to break ground in the spring of 2019, the project will include a brand new road surface and base along with all drainage, curbs, gutters and a new water main along Fullerton Avenue from Maple Street to 1st Avenue.
