On February 28th, River Grove School celebrated Dr. Seuss’s 114th birthday with their kindergarten thru 5th grade students. The students were treated to guest readers by school board and administration members as well as Mayor Dave Guerin and Village Trustees Tracy Aller and Michele Obaya. Following the story telling, the students received a book to take home and sang Happy Birthday to The Cat in the Hat and shared in cake and ice cream.
The evening also featured a celebration of the birthday of the founding of the PTA which took place back on February 17, 1897. The history of PTA and its continual importance in furthering a quality education for our students today was highlighted. Seven past PTA presidents were in attendance to be honored for their contribution to our community.
It was a great celebration!
