Led by Tom Brimie and Peggy Kasillas, the Unity in Community Foundation recently stopped by the River Grove Food Pantry to donate an entire carload of food and other supplies to our residents in need.
"The Village of River Grove would like to thank the Unity in Community Foundation for their generous food donation and all the great work they do for the surrounding communities," said Mayor Dave Guerin. "Our pantry supplies nourishment to many families in our community and is always in need of both food and cash donations."
Since 2009, the Unity in Community Foundation has worked tirelessly to serve the residents of Leyden Township in many ways. Their annual fall fundraiser and food drive helps fill local food pantries and provides much needed relief for individuals and families in need. In addition, the Foundation works to "Put the UNITY back in commUNITY" by participating in community events such as parades, car shows, village sponsored events and business sponsored events. They also offer six scholarships to high school students each year at both East and West Leyden as well as Elmwood Park high schools.
